Operation Appreciation: Serving Our Wounded Warriors

Friday, March 26, 2010

UMUC has always been committed to serving our service men and women around the world, and we’re proud to continue that tradition. Through Operation Appreciation, our nation’s Wounded Warriors at Walter Reed Army Medical Center receive donations in the form of basic toiletries, food products, clothing, accessories and even electronics from the entire UMUC community.

Operation Appreciation is managed by the UMUC Maryland Operations team and volunteers from several departments, who both help collect and deliver donated supplies. Drew Wilson, Maryland Operations Director of Support says, “This program has truly blessed the lives of the Wounded Warriors and their families and countless volunteers.” As of March 2010, donations totaling nearly $11,000 have helped these servicemembers enjoy the comforts of home on their road to recovery.
